Poleaxe build and suggestions!

So I'm gonna retire pretty soon, and thorugh several respecs, trial and error, sheer idiocy, and charging dick-first into trouble, I found that polearms work best for me. However, most are limited to overheads and/or stabs, while other ones are just "[C]avalry!" weapons.
Hopliting is pretty cool, but getting spammed in close quarters by some 2handing maniac which blocks of negates all my wiggles is unnapealing, along with the fact that attacks are limited to thrusts.
Poleaxes, however, have a wide variety of different support roles due to its different modes and excellent range, including facestabbing, knockdown, shieldbreaker, and others. The regular Poleaxe especially appeals to me, and I am interested in getting a +1 Poleaxe with the money I get from selling my 1st Heirloom point.

However, I lack a proper Poleaxing build at the moment, and I haven't found anything too appealing at other threads. Build suggestions are a must, and reccomendations for equipment are very welcome.

Additionally, if someone has a +1 Poleaxe they want to sell, please PM me so we can work out a deal (the +1 Poleaxe and some money for my Heirloom point).

Step 1. Make a STF Character
Step 2. Buy a poleaxe.
Step 3. Change build until you've founded the split you enjoy the most.
Step 4. Profit.

That seems pretty solid, I think I'll take it. How many Skills to Attributes though?

Tinker around with them, you'll be able to answer a lot of your own questions, and formulate "good" builds.

Also the STF idea is a great idea for making an initial decision.

Alrighty-roo. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Now, equipment.

What armor should I use in conjunction with my Poleaxe? Maximum weight?

And does anyone know anyone that wants a heirloom point for a +1 Poleaxe and some dosh?

That's the beauty of crpg, there's so many weapons and equipment.  A lot of people claim they pick based on looks, but I think that's dumb :P  Compare the stats of the items and weapons and decide for yourself what you think will work.

I'd suggest being on the heavy side of medium armor (or light side of heavy armor).  I'd suggest having a total gear cost of less than 30,000 gold.  You should be able to make money if you're doing well with that, or break even.

I'd shoot for something in this range of total/overall armor levels:

Head - mid to high 40's
Body - High 40's
Leg - high 20s, low 30s

Actually, I have one final question before I lock this down.

Is a sidearm a good idea for a Poleaxe build? Which weapon should I have a s backup, and how should my build be modified if I do?

And finally, is the Serbian Lamellar a good armor for pole'ing?

No side weapon, your poleaxe is all you will need, even different damage types.

Yes Serbian Lamellar is a good armor to use.  I'd probably suggest something slightly cheaper, with like 46 body armor (like the Sarranid Guard Armor, 46 body, 6 leg, so 2 less body, 3 less leg armor) for 3,000 less gold.  Will make a pretty big difference in overall upkeep costs.  And the 2 body armor/3 leg armor will be pretty hard to notice.

I wouldn't recommend bringing a backup weapon when using one of the poleaxes.  They are good all-around (swiss army knife) weapons as it is, and are expensive.

Alright. I was mostly concerned with style in relation to armor.

I was also thinking of getting Gotland Armor and a Gjermundu Helm, with some whatever boots.
