In fairly sure armor for horses were used in that era, as joker said, with advances in weaponry armor for horses became a must. And guns weren't common enough to make armored horses obsolete. The cataphracts of the Byzantines and the teutonic knights used barding a lot, a simple cloth protects against an arrow a lot more than nothing. They did have lighter cavalry for speed which had no barding, I know the winged hussars (when are these guys from again? 1500s I think)  didn't use barding and they had huge armor. I guess it depends heavily on place and time.

On the grand scale of Dwarven global threat assessment, Acre is currently ranked pretty low. Just slightly below Yoshis and factions that no longer exist.

I guess this was a single special case, and most likely the book was referring to the Lithuanians, because I am quite sure the Polish and the Teutonics did armour their horses.

As I think about it now - probably yes, because of the needed crushing power of the cavalry charge, to break through enemy lines.

I found this link after short googling, and you could probably find many more if you spend some time.

What I want to say - I didn't really focus on the horse armor in medieval times, but more overall about battles and all of those knights fighting with each other. If something that I said is false - sorry then, but I remembered that when I was reading some article. At list I wasn't wrong in 100%. Thanks for the discussion.

Greetings.

You're welcome. We are just discussing and talking. I invite you to join the historic discussion forum, we have some interesting topics going on there, currently we are talking about how melee really was in the middle ages.
Joker makes a very good point.

It's really difficult to find an authentic horse armor, most of in on display nowdays is from tournaments.

I recently visited Musée de l'Armée in Paris with an incredible amount of armors both horse and human, but most of them were tournament armors.

Infact only armors I saw that were actually used was half of a Ghotic plate and a Memeluk horse, rest was all 15/16 century tourney armor. Oh and the kickass Samurai armors and katanas
And now he can't play because of "common sense" and he doesn't understand how this common sense works
