Weapons need to be priced on their effectiveness, not some dork's prejudice.

Sorry, don't understand your post.

How was the Wakizashi not used in "real" combat?

It probably wouldn't have been used in Armored combat very often,
but Unarmored combat would be a different matter,
especially in close quarter/indoor combat.

Seems "real" to me.

Fight someone with 200 wpf and a Masterwork Wakizashi and tell me it's under-powered. San's Liuyedao barely renders an animation, and that's 2 speed slower.

Short Falchion is also very good, and a good value. Wakizashi is expensive because it's stylish.

Wakizashi is probably the most useless item in the whole 1h category.
Yes it is. They should add it a secondary mode and make it throwable. Now that would be very ninja like and fitting...

Oh?, Are you serious?. I bet most fights degenerating in  grappling actually ended with one of those fancy japanese knives in one of the fighter's faces...

Wakizashi is the fastest 1h sword in the game. only daggers are faster. I'd say they're pretty well balanced for what they are.

Sure, Like you are totally going to grab someone on the battlefield who wields 1,2m long sword. By real combat I mean real battlefield condition or siege, not some street brawl.

This grapling you are talking about only happoens in movies. In fact, nobody sane would try to grapple someone else who wields two handed sword.

I guess all those Asian martial arts with their fancy grapples, throws and hand to hand combat were just funny hobbies among the common people?
When west germany annexed east germany, nobody moved a finger too.

They were designed for traditional duels, a contest of arts and techniques, not for usage on a place where several hundred people fight between each other at same time.

The point was that wakizashi was self defence weapon much like knife or folding batton nowadays. They are designed for emergency usage, not for full on combat. Try to compare small folding baton to those long nightsticks armored cops use.
