the Duel Server map

If this map was ever to be switched off of Ruins... who would make that call?

If someone made a more interesting map for that server, as per the thread I've got going over in suggestions - a sort of "town" map with a tavern and an arena - a place where people could do what they do currently in duel (hang out, run about and kill one another) with a little more visual substance, who would I have to sell it to?

Most important thing for a duel map:

- small
- flat
- as few buildings as possible ;)

How do you figure that? Imagine: you spawn in a modest town square surrounded by buildings - all inaccessible but for two just ahead, side-by-side, with large torch-lit doors and hanging signs. They are a tavern and an Arena. Enter the arena and there are stairs up to the stands and stairs down to the pit. Enter the tavern and there is, well, tavern stuff.

People could just duel in the square and say to hell with the rest. Or, if they were interested, they could explore the other, more interesting spaces.

EDIT: Ruins is already large enough that, when there are only two people on, they end up typing "where are you"? anyway. And the answer is usually given with landmarks. "Near the little village." "In the center." etc. The new map would only be more useful in that way.

Don't forget about siege equipment. The duel server is the only place you can practice with it. (Without getting banned)

There needs to be enough room for cavalry too I guess. I will try to make the arena large. There has to be as few buildings as possible, to not cause lag. That is for all scenes. Don't worry. There are certain tricks to create a "city image" rather than making a full city. It is used in singleplayer towns. Just go edit mode and see how small those towns actually are.

Edit: Ok siege equipment too. Good you mentioned that, I forgot.

Seems the fascists are gaining ground once again in UKR... right vving politics is SO bad for the general populace but STILL in times of trouble the uneducated turn to them for help, simply because they are so amoral they vvill supply those vvilling to fight vvith vveapons rather than knovvledge.

My UU key is broken incase you can't tell :D
