Possible fix for Excessive item quantities in sieges

As everyone who participates in strat sieges is aware, the defending side frequently ends up with so many different items that they cannot select them at will. The solution I propose is to allow fief owners to sell gear whether they are in the fief or not, HOWEVER; they cannot buy gear and they cannot transfer gear and they cannot transfer money, any money gained from selling gear will be stored in the fief itself and so can be taken by a successful attacker. This way defenders can clean up their item list a bit without removing any possible spoils of war.

I of course have no idea if this can be coded easily or at all, but I figured I would at least offer up a potential solution that in my eyes would be fair to both attackers and defenders.

This could use a fix. Perhaps another solution for this could be an item roster, similar to that of a roster of the players but for the inventory a player or a town has. In effect anyone able to edit rosters can choose what items are shown in the battle.

You should be able to do whatever you want Buy/sell gear or add or remove gold from your fief for the whole 5 hours you have to reinforce it in my opinion

the way it is now and anything else makes no sense to me

Couple of solutions being discussed. Matey has one of them.

Shinock has the other.

The prep period where you can re-inforce your army should allow you to sell the excess gear.

The actual problem is getting the one Dev to code this fix.

Other solutions that don't need to be hard-coded are also being discussed.

And what if the fief owner is else where?  Surely this will be taken it account.

aye, currently the only way to take gold from an enemy is if they leave it in a fief and you can keep the fief locked down with attacks. adding new ways to get gold from enemies could be interesting... but for the current topic i quite like my idea and rhekimos's idea.

Indeed, this would be preferable ^^

We have the Christo "batman" avatar when there's NA drama, someone should make a "Summon Harald" avatar we can spam on the forums.

Seriously though, the item quantity bug is crippling and would be nice if it was addressed.  Also the suggestions to buy/sell equip in the 5 hour reinforcement window would be preferred.

Never really thought about it, but if you keep re-attacking a city in consecutive waves, the defenders can't buy more equipment to help defend.  So better hope you have enough before the siege starts (or be able to pull it in from another fief)

How about just letting the owners decide on a priority order for the gear, higher priority spawns first and lesser gear only shows up when it is gone

Why can't they just code in a scroll bar? Have as many items as you want with highest quality to lowest (left to right) the way it is now, Keep the icons the same regardless of how many you have, but once you run out of space, or even at a set number (say 10 for example) you just incorporate a scroll bar or click to move for the icons to the next set of items in that category.

This would solve the issue about not being able to select items. It would allow people to set there preferred items to the row they want, Higher tier for Melee, Medium or low for archers (obviously up to them) and this would also help us with bad eyes from having to squint at baby icons when we have a lot of something!  :P
