you need alot of agility because of the little lenght i guess. you have to move into that distance and stab him, with the agility you can also get away quickly.

Dont be so hard on yourself no rules, remember length doesnt count :P

As for the build id try a 12-24 build, means you are fast and can do some damage as well but can outmanouveur most people

My Uber-Character, Runner of Runnington, is great for the shortened spear.

33 Agility
9 Strength

~80 Polearm
~80 1H

11 Athletics
3 Power Strike

Loadout:
Shortened Spear
Rondel Dagger

The reason for the Rondel is simple: with the speedy build that is neccesary to compensate for the short reach of the spear, you need a weapon that can pierce armor well, while being short, light, and quick. The rondel fits this role beautifully: Use the multi-directional spear attacks and spear stab on light-medium armors, then switch to the rondel for people who wear shiny things.
For the glory of DuPrix!

I'm going to state again that: if you can't land chamber thrusts, or make people bite on your holds, don't go below 5 PS. Even with 29p thrust the short spear will take multiple clean thrusts to kill a medium armored opponent. You don't have to worry about taking many hits, even in light armor at 18/21 you can take 3 clean hits from anything but a high str build. With respect to foot work and maneuverability you don't really have to go higher than 24 agi, it's enough to run circles around multiple opponents and escape when you're outgunned. And last, but not least, if you're going to try a short spear hoplite, stick to hunting archers.
