On my gear loadout that's right around 50k total gold, I was losing about 50k (on average) a generation. But that varies a lot, sometimes you can lose a shit ton of money in a night, other times you may make a couple thousand or break even. After playing a few hours, I've never made over 2 or 3k total with that gear loadout.
My first couple gens I had to jump off my horse for a night or two to get back up to the 10-20k mark. On my first and 2nd gen I never had more than 20k tops, I was usually riding my horse with 10-15k.
I'd suggest as cavalry to sell your first loompoint and try to buy your horse in a +1 from the market and pocket 100k or so gold profit from the transaction, and still have a +1 horse. That 100k should easily last you til your 3rd gen, and hopefully til your 4th (so you can use the next two heirlooms to +3 your horse).
*OFFTOPIC* Awesome signature buba, that's one of my favorite movies
(for those that don't know, Disney's Robin Hood)
