About polearms and heirlooming.

After a twohander gen, I will go again to polearms, but I don't know which polearm have to heirloom. After thinking a lot, there is a list and what im thinking about: (No Blades allowed, i want to get shield bonus, and i don't want an unbalanced one for obvious reasons)

Poleaxe
weight 3.25
requirement 17
spd rtng 89
weapon length 141
swing damage 40, cut
thrust damage 31 pierce
Can't use on horseback
Bonus against Shield
Gen1= 89spd 43cut 33pierce
Gen2= 89spd 44cut 35pierce
Gen3= 90spd 46cut 36pierce

I think Poleaxe is a great weapon but rarely used. It's speed can be a bit slow, but the role of a polearm is not going around spamming or dueling, just supporting. In the 3rd heirloom, it have an awesome pierce dmg, and decent swing dmg. The length (141) it's also decent.

German Poleaxe
weight 3
requirement 16
spd rtng 90
weapon length 131
swing damage 42, cut
thrust damage 29 pierce
Can't use on horseback
Bonus against Shield
Gen1= 90spd 45cut 31pierce
Gen2= 90spd 47cut 32pierce
Gen3= 91spd 48cut 33pierce

This polearm is similar to standard poleaxe, but have three different stats. For me, the one and the most important thing, the length (131). The other two, +2 swing dmg +1 speed. I don't feel confortable with a shorter polearm, but it someone have his experience with this weapon, please talk about your experience.

Elegant Poleaxe
weight 2
requirement 16
spd rtng 92
weapon length 132
swing damage 39, cut
thrust damage 26 pierce
Can't use on horseback
Bonus against Shield
Gen1= 92spd 42cut 28pierce
Gen2= 92spd 43cut 29pierce
Gen3= 93spd 45cut 30pierce

The last. Elegant poleaxe. Two reasons to avoid to fight with it. The first, it's price. The second, it's length (132).
Suggestions and help, are welcomed. Lolaxe is not included because i heard a rumour that it will be nerfed to unbalanced soon.

Regular Poleaxe is overall very nice, although a bit slow. It gains 6 cut and 5 pierce upon being heirloomed three times, while the other two only gain 4.

I don't like the German Poleaxe; ignoring strength requirements and weight, you gain 2 cut and 1 speed but lose 2 pierce and 10 length; I don't even think the German Poleaxe breaks even, especially with heirlooming, the pierce gap goes up to 3.

The Elegant Poleaxe is a duel-version of the regular Poleaxe, being 3 speed faster but 9 length shorter. That trade is slightly in favor of the Elegant Poleaxe, but you lose 1 cut and 5 pierce. With heirlooming, it's a 1 cut/6 pierce deficit. I've seen many people use the Elegant Poleaxe, although I prefer the regular Poleaxe.

Pick the best looking one (German P/A, imo) then have fun with it. Don't metagame so much that you end up not enjoying a character that you made. :)

That's the exact reason that I use the German poleaxe.

I love the regular poleaxe. You just have to find which weapon works for you and the poleaxe just does for me.

Spike mace ftw.  Found a powerful spiked mace and with 10ps omg you 1-2 shot everyone with crazy knockdown.

I'm with bob, long hafted spiked mace is the best heirloom i'd ever done, and you only need 2 heirlooms to be overpowered

The Long Hafted Spiked Mace is certainly a good weapon, perhaps even too good, but it does not serve the same purpose as the poleaxes, since it lacks bonus against shield, but has knockdown. A poleaxe is suited for destroying shields head-on, while the LHSM is suited for guaranteed kills with knockdown procs.
