A change to the way the duel ladder calculates points

Anyone been on the duel server since the ladder thing was put in? It's hilarious. Hardly anyone is wearing anything less than medium armor, and there are a substantial number of people actually wearing better armor than they do in most battles. Is this in line with the intention of the developers? Because if it is not, then I would like to see them implement a handicap bonus based on the difference between the total cost of your equipment vs. that of your opponent.

One way of doing it could be (your total cost)/(opponent's total cost) * (points earned or substracted), capping out at x5 or 1/5th on the extreme ends. I'm sure there are plenty of other ways of doing it if this particular one is unworkable or stupid.

The advantage of adding handicaps to the point calculation in this way is that it allows better players to take risks, demonstrate their superiority, and be rewarded for it, while still allowing those who are trying to get better to get better to wear whatever they want and practice without punishing them for doing so. Thoughts?
