another look at community funding development

Someone mentioned about a 2 months or so ago, maybe less, about trying to secure a little funding for the development of the mod. They suggested a few routes, but all in all i think they were testing community perception on the idea of community funding.

Anything ever come out that post? I can't find it' im lazy and the discussion should continue.

It was me and it was deleted because of a lack of interest from the community.  The consensus was that instead of paying dev's for a free mod, that it would be preferred to make the mod "open source" and allow people to work on it in their spare time.  If that was done, they would certainly need to have some sort of version control and testing...which might add more work for devs.  I guarantee they don't want someone to fuck up their mod, and still carry the cRPG name.

I personally think the idea of a multiplayer version of native single player is such a great idea that I'd be willing to spend my own money to get dev's to make it a better/more playable game. And I know others out there would be willing to as well (even though the majority would probably not be willing to do so).

I really wished project asinus was going to be the dev's pulling strategus from cRPG and making it a completely new stand-alone game (or mod).  I'd put up money on kickstarter for something like that...

Fuck space bullshit...unless it's dogfighting in star wars spacecraft :)

Yeah I think that's the key.  Trying to get an idea what they would be working on, and a rough estimate of how long it would take in man hours to accomplish.

Make it DLC like napoleonic wars and there will be lots of new peasants to kill + they will earn money.
