Actually, there were primitive firearms as early as the 12th century, used during the crusades.
It's ironic how 99% of the crpg population dress like teutonic ninja viking mongol knights, yet freak out at the idea of firearms being in the game.
And just in case you diddn't notice, we already have tons of 16th and 17th century
weapons/equipment/horses in crpg. Hello Bardiche, Great Long Bardiche, Side Sword, Voulge, Bec, Poleaxe, German Poleaxe, Plated Charger, Flamberge, Highland Claymore, Sword of War, Heavy Great Sword, Long Espada, Swiss Halberd, Awlpike, Long Awlpike, and Pike.
