Heirloom reforging

I think it would be an interesting idea to let us sacrifice an heirloom for heirloom points. Now obviously, this would make the marketplace useless. All is not lost on this idea, because the reforging would of course come at a cost. The idea is, you can reforge the heirloom for the cost of one of the heirloom points off it. You can take a +3 to get 2 loom points, a +2 for 1, and +1s would simply not apply for this rule.

I think it would be pretty helpful for a few reasons, like one being the case of over heirloomed items (like the Danish Greatsword). People are trying to get rid of them left right and center, and sometimes it is quite hard to get rid of one without adding lots of gold on top. Why should this be the case? At the cost of 1 heirloom point off the level, you can have a nice +2 item. This would also be nice for people who either simply do not want to wait for something to sell. I also feel this would have an interesting effect on the marketplace, driving the values of the worthless +3's up a little, and maybe even giving people a better chance to get a fair trade for their +3 as other people would have probably reforged them, thus adding a nice spice of variety on the marketplace. The +3 Danish that everyone and their distant family who do not even play cRPG has, might not be such a terribly common sight anymore.

Just a thought :)

Another way to do it:

Obvious lobbyism is obvious.

What's your current heirloom amount right now?

And how many of those are crap items you bought cheap?

Alright we can make it even more fair, as I do not care about doing this myself. How about items that have not once been traded on the marketplace? An item that has remained with the player who originally heirloomed it (which I have none of my originals, sold/traded them all on the first day of the marketplace opening)

Its a good thought. Its been brought up before like Tom said. I'm all for it. I think if anything it would increase movement on the market and might even put a bit of downward pressure on prices in the market and on loom point prices.

Think of the variety if people could transform items. It would flatten out the prices of armor a bit I would think.
Fammi un pompino!

Good news everybody! It's not nut cancer :)

Loosing one level of heirloom seems like a fair trade.

I don't think this should be implemented as it keeps the rarer weapons more expensive and unusual.
Don't know why the Danish gets so much hate though it's a nice weapon although I prefer the German myself it's still a fantastic weapon.

What about a 1 month cooldown after you reforge a heirloom?

(Tough I don't really like the idea of losing a heirloom level using that option for people with low gen)

Only way it would be fair is to forge +3 item into a +1 one and some gold.

Explain your reasoning? Personally I think the loss of 8.7mil experience worth of play time, or 300-500k gold from a marketplace purchase is more than enough.
