Bastard Sword/Cav viable?

I was interested in doing a bastard sword build. I really enjoy using 2h weapon but 1h + Shield seems so much better while mounted. Also in my current gen I don't use a shield and its very difficult to try to close in on ranged players. This is what I was looking at:

equipment wise I was thinking Heavy Bastard Sword, Knightly Heater Shield, Warhorse. If any of this is viable how much armor should I be aiming to wear? I'm still not 100% sure on how the penalties work for weight.

Dont use 2handed weapons in one hand, they get alot of penalty to damage and speed. Arabain cavalry sword does better damage, is faster and has same reach as heavy bastard sword if the bastard is used in one hand. Either dont use shield, or if u must then use one handed weapons and put or wpf points to one handed.

the 2hander penalty on horseback and the penalty with shield cancel each other out, it doesnt matter which style you do, you get the same 25 percent or so reduction to stats if you do one, the other, or both

Use the shortened military scythe on cav, it can swing and it's the longest 2h weapon after practise longsword which are swingable on horse.
