It can be limited with 4 hours at day, for example 20:00-24:00. And you do not need to guard your fief yourself, all you need is 1-2 patroling party nearby, that can react in time. Or prevent «loot» if someone managed sneak up.

P.S.
 sry again

Yeah won't work I'm afraid. The only way to make it work would be you attack and it lets you select how many hours you wait after you attack, say with in 15-45min of attacking/raiding. Then the battle timer tells everyone when the battle will take place and the defending side has until (insert arbitrary amount of time) to reinforce.

@Huseby in some twist of crazy it doesn't give you the gold :/ Troy raid Uslum or Shulus and got next to nothing :/

There is a tactical benefit to a raid. If you have a large force that will burn up the 1.5hrs you get for the battle and have to QMR, but don't want to split the force then you raid to blast the garrison and then attack to wipe out the village.

If we had done that at Fisdnar we would have killed the garrison and had 800-1000 troops left for the next assult should have left them with about 400 and us with 1000-1200. It would have made way more sense and we might have won.

So if I understand the current system correctly:

village population = 300
army population = 1000

If you raid the village, you must kill 1000 troops and then you get all the gear
If you attack the village, you must kill 1300 troops and then you get all the gear and the money and the village

...

Really it's hard to imagine why we would ever want to raid, except against places where the majority of the defense was the population itself.
Crush your enemies; see them driven before you; hear the lamentations of their women.

Well, looks like I do not explain this good enough first time.

Phase 1
Raiding party attack fief - Siege is set in standart battle shedule. You can gather force, reinforce, buy weapons etc.

Phase 2
Raiding party win siege. After this you can choose between Own a village or Pillage this village for gold and items.

Phase 3
You can interrupt looting with any patroling party (if it's party working for fief owner), or you can win battle with looters and loot a little yourself (independent party)

Simple Idea:

If you  raiding owned village\castle\town in strategus - you can steal items and gold of cRPG owner of this village\castle\town.

So, if your raid take 1 hour - you've got 5% of owner gold and 5% of items.
If you raid take 20 hours and no one interfere you - you've got 100% of owner gold and all his items.

No.
I like the raiding thing, but it realy only works in Singelplayer M&B.
In Strategus... this idea will be stupid.
