Ability to increase/decrease tempo/octave/pitch. You can do stuff like this easy enough with open source algorithms available online but it won't sound very good.I'm working on a similar project except it includes hardware interfacing as well (also probably a smaller scope than your project). I'm really not worried about sound quality though, as long as it roughly does what it's intended to do. STFT frequency shifting using a phase vocoder + Laroche/Dolson phase propagation to change the pitch of the signal and then throw in some auto correlation beforehand for detection and threshold setting.
