DISCLAIMER: I use a Mighty Long Bardiche exclusively
Seriously, I often play for HOURS with seeing anyone using this weapon, or the GLB for that matter. Yes, LUBU friggin owns with it, but he would (and does) own with every weapon.
My arguments against this idea:
-Do you REALLY want every pole user to use a Bec? Because that's the direction it's been heading for the last year. Some damn weapon variety would be nice. 2H is already twice as popular as pole, and those remaining pole users mostly have Becs now.
-The Long Bardiche is just a Poleaxe that trades 13 thrust damage for 6 swing damage. Every Poleaxe user knows the thrust is the killer feature of their weapon, and the Long Bardiche has less thrust than most peasant weapons. Should the various Poleaxes be unbalanced too?
-Even with it's 140 length, the greatswords still outreach the Long Bardiche on 75% of swing types, so it's not like it's even one of the longer weapons on the battlefield (with almost everyone carrying a greatsword lately).
-Bonus vs. shield is hardly worth a damn. Every shielder just blocks me once, then is in my face hacking away like a food processor before I can even land a second hit on their shield. I generally only beat decent shielders if I can land a kick. Crushthrough is how you beat shielders, bonus vs. shield is almost a gimmick. Good 2Hers just footwork shielders to kill them, and never even hit the shield.
My solution? Buff the German Poleaxe, Elegant Poleaxe, Great Long Bardiche, Great Long Axe, and the 2H axes/bardiches. Don't nerf a weapon that is already rarely used.
