Hardly can see any secondary mode possibilities for flamberge. Waved blade doesn't mean it would have a benefit against shields, besides this would be terribly unbalanced feature.

It would be kinda cool though if flamberge could break long poles when chambering.  Atleast wikipedia says massive two handed flamberges were specifically made for that purpose, to counter pikewalls.

inverse pole swing (left) and 2h swing (right) k? thanks.
So the new response to ranged ragers is not "get a shield", it is "learn to chamber ranged nub!"

Axes have a bonus against shields, because they have a wedged blade. Swords of all kinds don't have a wedged blade, so they don't get a bonus against shields. The reason why throwing spears etc. get bonus against shields is still unknown to me, though. A hit of a thrown spear is kind of like a weaker stab of a regular spear, but whatever...

I think it's because the shields can' t get slower or get any other negative stuff from a spear stuck in it. In real life, using a shield with throwing spears stuck in it would be a lot harder than using one without it, so I guess the bonus against shield is because you shouldn't be able to use a shield too much with a lot of spears in it. :)

I voted Gurnisson cause of his fucking bendy pike, I swear noone can roflcopter stab like he can.

Yeah, heard that one before. Still think it kind of makes the throwing axes redundant.

The Romans used Pilae exactly for that Reason: To make the Enemy Shields useless.

I guess "making the shield useless" in this game is pretty much destroying the Shield. That´s why they have a bonus against shields.

Unless it can be coded that You automatically drop your shield when it gets hit by a Throwing lance or spear.
Maybe it woud be better for me to find out where you life and kill you when you are satch a Soziopath. You have enough now.

Well, romans mostly fought tribal cultures with lots of fur and plaing wooden shields. I don't really see how a thrown spear can do any damage against a steel shield.

Nobody used steel shields in the roman time period. Romans mostly used leather or wood. Most shields are wood in CRPG anyways. I only know a few people who use any of the steel shields.

Make it a throwing weapon with a melee secondary mode. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hfLZozBVpM

wtf is with that music lol

Secondary mode should be that awesome but ridiculous running one handed lunge stab thing. 4min in.

I love the claim, "No one is going to be able to take advantage of you when you have a great sword built by cold steel in your house". I just wish I could post this in response http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkLXdLgOybE

This is the forth time I've edited this post, this video is a fucking gold mine! The Flamburg "Its all about great penetration"

EDIT

Actual suggestion: Knock 26 points of speed off and double its damage...

Flammy needs some love.  Isn't it supposed to be the ultimate 2Her?  Almost nobody uses it, and almost nobody who uses it can get very far with it.
As it is, it hardly does more damage than the war cleaver, which is easier to use for a number of reasons. Even loomed to MW, it's still not fast enough to get past the manual blocking of a decent player.

A damage buff is a good place to start, but please leave the speed alone.  Maybe increase its weight?
