Ok, I'm gonna go after these facts.
-You have a guy (main) called jose1996.
-You have an alt named Clantag_jose1996. He has 100 gold and is a peasant.
-You want to make jose1996 change his name into Clantag_jose1996.
Now, you are getting an error when you try to change the name of jose1996 to Clantag_jose1996? The error will say "this character already exists" or something like that. This is because there is already someone who has a character with that name. That person is you. What you have to do is:
1. Delete your peasant alt Clantag_jose1996. (this will delete him from the DB making the name available again)
2. NOT(!), I repeat NOT(!) login to a server with your alt.
3. Go to settings and apply for namechange to Clantage_jose1996.
4. Wait for it to be approved. (This can take from 1 minute, you lucky bastards, to a couple of days. All depending on how busy the admins are. If it takes too long then it's probably been denied for some reason)
5. SUCCESS! Your namechange worked. Now you enter servers with the name Clantag_jose1996 and all your stats and equipment is with him
Hope this helps. I also want to give some advise. Don't use your date of birth (1996) in your name. It looks stupid, tells everyone how old you are and it's very unoriginal and boring. Try to find some decent name, not too fantasy and not too sci-fi that you can use in most games and fits most genres. It took me some time to find mine (actually M&B is what settled it) but it will make gaming much easier. It will also surprise you how many people you meet on one game that will recognize you in others if you stay with the same name. Just watch out not to take something that over 9000 others are using (i used to use Zapper, GOD how many people took that name >
