So after reaching level 26 my repair bills kicked in, upon reaching this level i had:
Great Helm, Mail With Surcoat, Italian Sword (1h Wpf 151), Heavy Board Shield,Mail Mittens and Mail Chausses for a total of 27,992 Gold.

I currently have 15k gold and on average I lose 500 per repair for 500-1500 a round on average.
Price wise do i have too much or is the upkeep system supposed to put people below this amount of armor?

You are tilting, luck should be better the next day.

Every multiplier assuming a standard amount of wpf for your weapon (over a hundred) you should be able to sustain 23,000 gold worth of gear per average multiplier, and your average multiplier should be a bit shy of 2 (1.9 something if I remember correctly).

15K-20K should earn you a decent penny, 30K or so should be a very slow amount of money earned in the long run, and 46K+ should be losing money consistently for an average player

With 27,992 gold you should be slowly making money in the long run. You are experiencing bad luck, or are playing on Siege and not Battle or vice versa (Siege works better for some players but in my experience Battle is best for making cash, I dunno, your mileage may vary). Oh, and avoid DtV mode as upkeep is full but the rewards are a third or so so you will lose money quickly.

TL;DR version:
Bad Luck.
I'm not normal and I don't pretend so, my approach is pretty much a bomb crescendo.
Death is a fun way to pass the time though, several little bullets moving in staccato.
The terror of my reign will live on in infamy, singing when they die like a dead man's symphony.

Get a stack of money, so you can take gold losses.

I earned about 70k from 19k gold with very cheap gear. And now I'm using my top gear (49k cost), and can pay it now.

Like previous posters said, you might lose a lot one day but you will gain everything back eventually. Best to play a few hours in very low gear so you pile up some money so you can take the loss.

I started at about 15k gold with 65k gear (1 masterwork heirloom) and ended up with 35k gold in a couple of days.

Build up a buffer. 50 k should be enough, probably.

It's still kinda randomized. You'll go up and down.

50k? i wear 50k of equipment and i never lose more then 15k, though i have a lot mor ofc, but 50k is always good because if you want to buy something, you still have that buffer. you especially need it as cavalry

Get rid of the board shield, it's expensive and not really one of the best for a sword and boarder. Huscarl shield is better for overall protection, knightly heater or knightly kite shields are great for speed and dueling.

Also, as a S&B'er, you don't really need a great helm. Try something a bit lighter that matches your gear, maybe a guard helm or something would work.

Also, if you really want to make some cash (and be quicker on your feet) put on some leather boots and even gloves. They cost almost nothing, and you rarely get hit in the feet.

Good luck!
