So you can pick up a battalion banner and carry it around, etc.
Sometimes you lose control of it -- it gets stuck on the field and nobody can move it anymore.
I have determined that this happens whenever the round ends while you are carrying the banner.
Die while carrying: ok
Drop banner before the round ends: ok
Round ends while you are carrying: banner gets "stuck" and will not respond to movement commands
