xbow 100%

I would, if you do not mind, elaborate a little on this. As Stabby_Dave suggests, the best to be used as a sidearm for melee char is Xbow, especially for the fact you do not need any stats invested to be effective with it. So you do not have to "gimp" your char melee capability.

For throwing and bows, you would need skill investment aswell as WPF. Even tho, if  you want to play a melee mostly with sidearm ranged, go for xbow, BUT if you want to be both good in melee/ranged, make a hybrid that can use both bow and melee.

I was experimenting with a 18/18 build with 6 PS, PD, ATH, WM and 5 IF, somewhat accurate archer with bow who hits hard when he has to melee. Good for random battles actually, having loads of fun when i play. Shooting people and when they close in, just smash them with that 0slot hammer :)

To sum it up: if you wanna do mostly melee and an ocassional shot once in a while, go for xbow (without WPF is best to shoot in short-mid range, as the accuracy can be a bitch for long distance), otherwise i suggest you make some hybrid, which are not that popular, but still blast to play :)

I suggest throwing, just for the fact that the 2 other take too much concentration to do well.

With xbow or bow, after a while you will be asking yourself if you're still really a primary melee fighter...  :?

Done it myself...
A lot of people in the NA community know that Dach rages and in the process of his uncontrollable rage, he tends to kick people.

You've been warned!

if you do it as some of them 2h minmaxers who bring just xbow with 1 bolt to battle to shoot once only before the charging and then drop it, you are still mainly melee :) (i just made a xbow alt when i feel like shooting people)

If you roll with style you pick throwing, even perhaps bow. But still if you'd  ask me what is the most competitive choice, xbow is my pick. Needing no investment in skill-points is such a big bonus for melee character. With such a low investment on skills, xbow is also the deadliest of three. Unlike with bow or throwing you will most unlikely be running out of ammo too.

As stated above, using xbow will take you slightly off from melee based character. If you like to be on the front line, throwing would be the choice. Although currently being rather ineffective skill, there is a good chance throwing will be better in the future.

Definitely xbow, as the only real requirement to use it is str. You don't even need much wpf to be effective.

So true! I was gonna be a Xbow/2h hybrid, but I ended up only using the xbow.

Definitely xbow.
100 wpf is not enoug to be accurate in mid range for archery. And if you only shoot at close range, might as well go for xbows.

xbow.
if you go bow or throw, you will sacrifice 1 point in ps due to less strength because you couldnt transfer enough skillpoints into attribute points.
