Confused O.o

I'm a new player to Warband and cRPG. I decided to roll an archer and play as a hardcore one, that meaning no mellee weapons and stuff. I leave my life on our mellee defenders and use the slot for more arrows.

The thing is that i want to be a longbowoman but by reading the forums i got confused even more. Do i need 6PD and everything else on athletics and weapon master and agility or 8PD?

I want to be accurate AND fast AND high damage output. Can i have a balanced build between those? If I cannot, then count accuracy as the most important one and then damage and last speed and post me a build i can follow. I can't stand arrows that miss the reticle by much, if sb is to be an archer he must be deadly accurate.

And don't post comments like "roll a horse archer and live happy thereafter" cause i hate imba classes. I want to pierce the heavy geared guys with my uber awesome longbow.

(Also I heard that in clanwars exist phallanxes and arrowlike horse formations and awesome stuff like that. What do i need to join a clan and see these things live?)

Hey man im a longbowman and the way im finding it 18/18 with 6 PD does enough damage for me so mabe go 18/21 and get 7WM that will increase accuracy and damage slightly, i seem to be doing well with 18/18 but i think 18/21 would be better for more speed and accuracy and its what i will be doing when i retire. You want to be headhunting with the longbow on armoured players, not so much archer duels as a good strongbow player will beat you to the shot everytime so be more of a support Archer. So yes i would say to go 18str21agi  6PD 7WM 7ATH and the rest in ironflesh if you have points spare. P.S get good with the longbow and then apply to RISEN, we need more archers! If you want to be balanced, I would either go with 18/21 or 21/18 (this last one, probably). Try to level up to 18/18, without putting any point in anything other than Athletics, Power Draw, and Weapon mastery. Then, if you think you have enough accuracy (it won't get much better anyway), go 21/18 for +14% base damage. If you need more accuracy, 18/21.

PD: I'm going with 21/18 myself, possibly 24/15, because I think at long range people can avoid your arrows very easy, and at medium range you have enough accuracy with this.

WM 6 is definitely enough, and 7 athletics is useless for an archer - don't go 21/18, put at least 21 in str, maybe 24 depending on how important you find the extra dmg/accuracy.

So:
21/18
max pd, wm and athletics

or

24/15
Max pd, wm and athletics.


Those are the two best possibilities imo

Archer with 24\15 build will have BIG troubles in duel with any of these - 15\24, 15\21, 18\21, 18\18, 18\24, 21\21 archer build.

It's not a skill question, it is stats question.

Didn't test it but you can't be more dedicated as an archer than with those build

Yeah, but for a 21/21, you have to sacrifice important skill points. Or reach higher levels, and that's no Cakewalk with this XP system.

With only 3 athletics you won't be good at kiting but then again playing lone ranger without any melee weapon is not a good idea.

but I tought Powerdraw gives only bonuses per 4pd points.
Like 4pd is bonus 8pd is bonus or 12pd is bonus but I think higher than 12 pd is hard to reach.
I tested it myself and its true. Only bonuseson 4pd 8pd 12pd.

So imo 18 21 is the nicest.

You need the atheltics to do archer duels even though the longbow isn't the best choice for it.

If you plan a build for level 30 (you will spend the most of your playtime that at level) better go for:

Level 30 (4 420 577 xp)

    Hit points: 59

    Skills to attributes: 8

    Ironflesh: 3
    Power Strike: 0
    Shield: 0
    Athletics: 7
    Riding: 0
    Horse Archery: 0
    Power Draw: 6

    Archery: 164

You can exchange the 3 IF for PS if you want to because with your light armor it won't be such a big benefit but will probably let you catch one more arrow before dying
