What's up with OKAM anyway? Why/how has the hype "tanked"?
It's simple. People waited for two years in dark, then finally first public build aka early access was released. People expected finished game because they waited for so long but game is nowhere to be finished. chadz being Chris Roberts gave unrealistic dates, which they are unable to stick by.
Another issue is early access stigma and number of "similar" games on Steam which are also in limbo for years. That's something gaming community slaps on every new project, no matter how "young" it is. Therefore, reviews were
Mixed. But thanks to intervention of disgruntled part of cRPG community reviews were further made worse, somewhat out of spite. So it is leaning to
Negative spectrum, which means stay away from this game.
Combination of early access status, type of game which in its current form screams medieval survival (despite not being of the sort, but good luck explaining things to people) and reviews which are becoming more negative over time is hurting the future of this game. Even if they make it fabulous, some time will pass before word spreads and people came back to it and persuade new players to buy it. Currently, all hype is gone, dead in the water, finished.
