The Chilcot Report

So Chilcot released the inquiry about Iraq today and from listening to his speech he pretty much dismantled Tony Blair and tore to pieces the war effort. So not a whitewash like many expected.

Blair said "I will be with you whatever" to Bush which is a pretty big deal. The report is like 2 million words so will have to wait for the journos to go through it while I listen to LBC (will post links later)

Anyone else been listening to the report?

Listening to the report It sounds pretty impartial. It doesn't make people mad at this govt but Blair and his. If anything the Drs contract news was released just before to limit the amount of news coverage it gets. Pretty common tactic for all parties.

I also think they delayed it to stop it having any influence on the EU referendum. It's too important to have it drop during debates about the EU

Or maybe they just finished the report.

The publication of the report of was vetoed a couple of times before, I guess everyone in the government a bit too busy to recall it was finally coming out if they wanted to delay it still. This publication date was set last year.

Here's Chilcot findings at a glance.

BBC summed it up neatly as "Crystal clear, polite - but damning."

2.6 million words no thanks :D i heard his speech and will read maybe the summery.

It is pretty brutal for Blair i must admit, However saying that to me the major problem was what we did post war, I can find no fault in removing Saddam if only we had stayed to rebuild and not just fucked it up. Our biggest failing is not the war itself but the creation and then destruction of hope, They cheered when Saddam fell, hoping they could be like Dubai or even Israel and then we took that from them too, If we had rebuilt properly and had a plan we could have made peace in the region
