I am a competent bassist, played in orchestra through high school and still play electric bass now. I also have a keyboard that I like to mess around with. Hook it up to pedals and make ~ambient noise~ with reverb/phaser/sustain shit.
Also every year I ask my parents for something unrealistic and stupid for Christmas, like a giraffe or a boat etc. One year I asked for a didgeridoo, and my mom found one on craigslist. I now own a didgeridoo. It's really good for your lungs, like swimming practice is. Sometimes I go and take it to a bridge that passes over a river and play it underneath the bridge. The sound bounces back from the other side and it sounds good. I still need to practice continual breathing (you inhale through your nose as you exhale out your mouth to play, trombones and other more common instruments use this technique as well).
It's also one of those things that everyone wants to try and play when they visit my house. It's fun to have around.
