They should be similar in price, I guess not with the recent price drop.
970 can OC to 780ti levels, 770 is much, much worse.

(Twin frozr isn't that great, it won't OC that well, but it will run quite and cool)
Wouldn't recommend getting a 770 at this point.

Just pony up for the GTX 970.  I'd offer you my old R9 270 but this AMD shit is pretty slow compared to the new NVIDIA cards

I guess I've fucked up lads but thanks a lot for the help in the thread.

I only had a £800 budget as I'm going on holiday to Thailand just after Christmas so I need save dat $$$

Here's what I've bought after looking at this thread, I got the things a few have recommended (CPU, CPU Cooler and motherboard).
How long do you guys think it'll be till I need to get a whole new system? 2-3 years?

Price is Ex VAT

Well with that system, you could get a new PSU and another 770 down the line, if you noticed it lacking powa.

Only thing I see going wrong with that build in 2-3 years is the PSU, everything else should last.
Good news is it probably won't take out your system when it goes :P. (Had a VX for about 2 years before it went gracefully)

Should be a steady 1080p machine for atleast 2-3 years.

A noob question for anyone with a H80i.
What setting are you using in corsair link and what temps are you getting at max?

I just doubled down on my 760 GTX (I had a EVGA ACX, the new one is an EVGA FTW), still holding nicely with "only" a 720W PSU. Currently running Dishonored at more than 60FPS constant in 4K DSR. Of course DSR is very silly, I'm going to buy a high res screen soon enough.

"max" depends on what CPU you have and what kind of OC is used. 80C should be where the CPU starts slowing down and the fans turn a maximum RPM if you want to be safe.

Bumping this because I finally bought a new screen. It's true what they say: G-Sync changes your life.

760s are a different kettle of fish to the higher tier GPUs, the 760s have awesome efficiency.
770s or 780s and I'd suggest a more powerful PSU. (970 SLI would probably be fine with 720W, 980 would be iffy)

I've only heard good things :D
Shame it's a lock-in to Nvidia though.

Holfy fuck I'm mirin.

I got a ASUS vg248qe just before Christmas and it's a huge difference from using a 1280x1024 60Hz monitor.
