Wassup guys, so I decided to upgrade my pc a bit, and I would like to replace my ancient athlon II 270 dual core for 6-core phenom T1055.

My current power specs with 350w power supply go like:

CPU: AMD athlon II 270 2X
GPU: AMD radeon hd 5770
Memory: one 4 gb stick of DDR3
MB: Asus M4A87TD EVO
HDD: Western digital 10tpvt
Tseng: Used to the bitter taste of refusal, this only serves to reinforce his greatest life lession yet.
Cloud: And that is?
Tseng: Bitches, man.

1. get power-needs from your parts
2. subtract current usage
3. subtract the differenz of new CPU with old one
4. ???
5. profit

Pretty much every different calculator will give you a different result. It depends on just so many different things. In either case, a safe tip: when in doubt, go higher. A 500W or 550W PSU won't be much more expensive, but should be a rather safe choice, maybe even for future upgrades.

That CPU won't require a new power supply.

For real? I mean, I checked the the power requirements for those two cpus, and this one seems to require almost double the the power input than the one I currently use...

Thanks, I will keep that in mind. I am planning to replace my mobo later with something that supports AM3+ socket. But right now, my only option is either, six core phenom II, or six core athlon II.
