My Dad started playing this game last week, I thought he was a loser for playing it, but he is a majorly depressed jobless recluse, what's your excuse guys?

I just bought it as well on sale seeing as I've heard some good things from friends. Seems to be surprisingly popular  :)

ding dong, bought this on steam sale with the going east dlc (it's 80% off or something atm)

Since I only played pirated version so far, I didn't bother with mods yet. Which ones should I really use?

No way around. This map is the biggest and most popular one you gonna find. Absolutely must have!

My current mod list:

Should help you find them. SCS forum is another good starting point.
New trucks added in, texture upgrades, huge amount of new trailers... there are tons of mods out there. Watch out for the version numbers, old mods don't necessarily work and the loading order is sometimes important - that's what all the "zzzzzzzzzz" are for :P - but that's most of times mentioned.

Have fun - I really do enjoy it. Just do yourself the favour and play it as a simulator. Break at red lights and stop signs, use signal to switch lanes and so on... then it's really fun and very relaxing. If you drive it like a racer, there is no appeal to it.
When west germany annexed east germany, nobody moved a finger too.

That's a lot >_>

I have these atm, don't want to go overboard with modding:

Do you use any graphic enhancement mods? Dunno if I'm just spoiled a bit, but sometimes I feel like the game could look better. Also, did they decrease engine sound inside cabin? I can barely hear the engine of the truck, I remember they were louder. I like to change gears based on engine sound, but that's not gonna fly with these low sounds.
