"Responsible department: Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs

That accurate allergy information for all food and drink products must be labelled on all packets, websites and menus, etc. (An allergy sufferer, for example, cannot walk into Greggs and order food knowing for sure that they will not suffer an allergic reaction or anaphylaxis.

The companies selling the product must be able to assure the consumer for certain that a food product will or will not contain an allergen.

Restaurants and food/drink manufacturers must thoroughly clean utensils, equipment and surfaces if they have come into contact with known allergens. If this is not done and a customer has an allergic or anaphylactic reaction, the restaurant/manufacturer/employee can be charged with manslaughter and forced to cease trading if an allergen is not listed in the menu, website or ingredients list and an allergy sufferer dies from anaphylaxis after consuming the product."

tl;dr - If this petition goes through, all food (even sausage rolls in Greggs for example) will have to be labelled with all allergy things. Please take some time to sign even if you don't have allergies yourself, I'm sure others do!

It cost money and manhours to comply with such regulations. Just think of the hike in insurrance should companies be liable in a mixup.

Are you sure consumers want to float that cost?
It can be done, sure, by force.

Might give a false sense of security. Luring people with serious foodallergies to eat more out.

Healthier, better and cheaper to make your own food.  esp if Greggs is on the list. :D

Guessing there is a market for "clean" food that could be adjusted for allergies aswell. In the same fashion as fairtrade or ecological food.

I have some foodallergies, but nothing serious. I get stung now and then when eating out. Mostly from my own stupidity.

Most people do not know if they have any allergies. Those that know they are hypersensitive should not risk it anyway. They make their own food.

Not needed, people who have serious allergies (had one myself until I was 17, pretty serious one but easy to fix if meds were available)
should know what they can safely eat and what not. As a guy who suffers from allergies you should just stay to things you know you can
eat eat and if you go to a restaurant you can always ask for the exact ingredients of a menu anways ( at least ehre in Germany).

It's just a shitton of work that isn't necessary. It's not like people who work in the food departement have lots of time and energy to
waste on stuff like this. False sense of security would probably cause more problems than the labelling would help.
I don't want to give a feedback to molly neither i want to ban him,I wanted to give advise high authorities to take his admin rights.Panos you monkey wrench where would u put this topic enlighten me you cancer fuck.

I loot corpses of their golden teeth.
But he'll be around somewhere between Heaven and The Devil, because neither of them will take him in, and he'll be farting loudly and singing a filthy song.

i'll be there at around

Another reason against is it would probably further raise hypochondriac tendencies these days. I know so many mothers claiming their children have this intolerance and that allergy without even letting it check. Some children have only to drink milk once and say afterwards they have belly ache and for the parents it is clear they have a 'milk-allergy'. I think the parents do that so they have something they can protect their children from. And any child believes that kind of stuff fast enough and internalizes it.
