Why isn't it possible to nudge with a flamberge when you hold your sword overhead, like other swords ?

A sword with an upkeep this high deserves a close quarter option.

Because it uses the polearm animation on the overhead and not the 2h animation. The only animation on the flamberge attacks that is 2h animated  is the right swing.

And yes it needs a nudge other than the default non swing/block nudge.

Edit: perhaps let it have polearm blocking animations?
We're all nerds here, so it doesn't really matter.

Script-wise it's because it has a pole overhead, and 2h block animations.

Generally the neutral nudge/just swinging is better than that nudge, but it wouldn't be unbalancing for it to have it.
