In this post another HoC member having no clue what he's talking about.

The people on this page seem to have missed two important facets of this particular situation. The Auctioneer isn't affiliated with the dev team and obtained the katana through an exploit(although, he did explain how it was achieved, and this has long since been fixed). Second, the auction winner made these crazy trades because he was hired for real money to obtain the katana(and it's not as though he isn't getting reimbursed). Taoge admitted to this in IRC.
