Spelunky is an indie action-adventure game created by Derek Yu. The player controls a spelunker who explores a series of caves while collecting treasure, saving damsels, and dodging traps.

Played the original too but it was 2hard4casuals like me.

They seemed generally the same difficulty wise, maybe it was the smoother edges that I felt prevented me from pulling "pixel perfect" actions, or the lady-in-red's listless call for "help" but I couldn't see myself enjoying it like I did the original. Could've been the music or the fact that the arrow traps don't have the same safe-fall sweet spots or the fact that you can't cycle through items and drop an inert bomb to safely disarm the trap. Throwing items don't have the same trajectories anymore and they wasted an opportunity to change the machete from the most worthless item ever to something at least usable.

It's a good game but they changed things ever so slightly enough that, and the fact that I'm not as into it and complacent after playing the original, every mistake from a resulting change was just too much teeth gnashing for me.
