Considering my topic was locked with no real reply saying it was against the rules - (http://forum.melee.org/na-(official)/(ban)-impersonation-in-a-strategus-battle/)

I have to assume impersonating people is fine? I can use whatever name or clan tags I want and not get in trouble?
If that's not the case can that be clarified please, and an explanation on why my thread was closed for no reason.

BAN REQUEST FORM:
1. Name of your character involved
2. Name of offending character(s)
3. Time and server, as accurately as possible
4. Written description of what happened, the whole story. Also what happened before and after.
5. Why you think the offender did what he did.
6. Multiple Screenshots
7. Names of players that can witness what happened.

The thread was likely closed as he refused to use the ban format I posted.
I wasn't the one who closed it, but the ban request format is required if you're making a ban request to ensure order.

To respond to hotmail's question about impersonation in a Strat battle, it's up in the air... which is what Shadowren stated.
Someone higher up the "CoC" would have to answer that for you.

In normal NA1-7, impersonation isn't OK (particularly when the person being impersonated has an issue with it).
However, pseudonyms in Stategus have opened up that possibility and chadz is quoted saying:

With his quote in mind, it's implying it was almost a part of the design.
That's just my speculation though. Again, you'll need to get answer from someone higher up.

If it was locked because of not using "formal ban request" or whatever that is incredibly stupid and the admin who locked it deserves to have admin removed for being so dense.

Since this is a general rules clarification and not just a specific ban request, maybe that's why the other thread was closed. You're right that it would get less views in other subforums, but Strategus Issues is probably where it should have been posted.

I asked the admin hivemind on IRC, and Nessaj said that if players are abusing the pseudonym to harass the real name owner or get them in trouble, that is bannable.

As it stands now, every single battle seems to have multiple people poking fun at each other with the names. As long as they aren't being shitheels about it they won't be banned. I'm sure the system will be changed in future patches, but for now just copying or making a pun on someone else's name is not going to result in a kick or a ban.

If someone does try to slander your name or abuse it in any other way, get screenshots and note the time then post here in the regular ban request format.
