HRE ban
« on: September 15, 2013, 09:30:14 pm »
Seriously Patoson...

Is it against the rules now, when 3 people defend the virgin, clearly being active?

Or are you the rules now?

How long?

From the precious book of rulez: "Guarding a certain place in order to win can be beneficial but just standing around doing nothing when the enemy is closing in is not."

Is the virgin itself a spot worth defending? Yes.

Was the enemy closing in? No.

You just banned 3 people, who didn't brake the rules. I have been banned a lot of times for small things, but you are the first who has banned me for nothing.

If you "guarded a place" (like you call it) for several minutes (like you do in DTV very often) in the other game-modes, you wouldn't last more than a minute (before an admin kicked you). I kicked a lot of leechers this afternoon and banned the ones that kept doing it.

Leeching is against the rules. You are getting experience and gold while not earning them. And I am tired of wanting to play DTV and having to kick and/or ban half the team because I guess that, for them, DTV means "let's grind xp while I do nothing and the rest play".

You should be unbanned tomorrow.

I don't know what other game modes have to do with it. The fact remains, regardless of what happened before, that you banned 3 people who did nothing wrong - unless it is against the rules to defend the virgin. Having 3 out of 30 guys at the virgin seems rather sensible, don't you think? Where does it say that everyone has to charge in like a kill-greedy pro-player all the time?

Can every defender be banned now, because you have your personal idea of what leeching means?

ferret, you got to admit that you are one of the people who at least 75% of the time just stand by the virging doing absolutely nothing

this isnt your first ban for leeching, maybe you should think about it rather than complain

if you dont wanna play anyway maybe you should consider not starting the game at all?
For all the non-believers, look no further than this thread for proof that while strat battles are won/lost in NA3/EU3, strat wars are won and lost on the forums.

No, I don't have to admit that, because it's not true. And I really don't need you to tell me what to do.

There are enough people who know I'm a decent DTV player. Just because I'm not one of you guys, who play with a stick up their ass and only care about their K:D ratio, doesn't mean I can be banned without breaking the rules. Yes, I like to occasionally have some harmless fun messing around with others. Some people play to have fun, not to be competitive all the time. When I get warned or someone complains, I stop it. And I always fight when the bots arrive.

It's not that I haven't seen you do it, too. You're just being a hypocrit.

I guess I'll leave it to Patoson to take the DTV out of DTV. And yes, that's what I call it, when you stand at the virgin, are not AFK and will fight incoming bots. But next time, I will write a message "intentionally defending the virgin now", so he can tell.

edit: I was just trying to figure out what other (leeching) ban you were referring to. I was banned half a year ago for being AFK two short times in relatively short succession (while playing actively in between), which is completely different. Other than that, I can't find anything leeching related. I also don't know how you came up with your >75%. But I guess facts aren't that important, when you step in for your buddy, eh?
Rhetorical pro tip: when you try to make a point based on exaggeration, you should stay inside semi-realistic boundaries, to be at least somewhat credible.

Can we please have a statement from a real admin here? As much as I disagree with the zero-tolerance policy of most HRE admins, at least they enforce the rules, instead of abusing their admin rights to fight their personal war for power-playing.

The bullshit that was thrown at me in this thread, despite being complete nonsense and coming from someone who is always lower on scores than myself, is not relevant at all. The only question is still, wether you can get banned for being located at the virgin. (not every round either and not with half the team, but with 3 people - which, as common sense suggests, is actually a good thing for the team)

I am 90% sure, I remember other admins explicitly saying, that standing at the virgin is fine, as long as you're not AFK. Patoson is the only admin I have seen banning for that (and more than once).

I think it's the first time I ban a leecher; I usually just keep kicking them, but it gets tiring at some point.

"Yeeeeeees... time to read my e-mail, watch some porn and read some forums while I get some xp and gold thanks to the people here who are actually playing". For me that's a good reason to be kicked and banned. I used to like you, until you started leeching for most rounds I've seen you in DTV.

If I cared about kills I'd play battle, by the way. The game is about war (killing), not about being present (and also getting the benefit of levelling up for free) while you do other things in the desktop.

I agree that a person or two protecting the virgin can be useful, but you can do that in movement, advancing a bit and checking that the virgin is safe. You just stand still for the whole round, so my guess is that you are AFK or tabbed out.

Now stop bullshitting me.

Hmm ... I wasnt there when it happened but I have to say that I find myself at the virgin quite often too and I dont think Im leeching.

Especially when the server is full, its very hard to shoot enemies when a wall of 20 friendly melees are effectively meetshielding all the bots. Staying at the virgin and picking off the bots that got through the net is the most reasonable thing to do in such situations from my point of view ( archer ). In those situations where bots are stuck and all their heads are ligned up perfectly, I could easily take out half a wave on my own but, you know, since there will always be those guys that charge in and dont know how to lure 2 bots out of the crowd instead of 20, I stay at V unless I am certain that all bots are stuck. I have simply seen too many rounds being lost just because there was no one at V. Dont ban plz.

Yeah, well, my memory isn't perfect, but I'm pretty sure you've kicked (/banned?) people just for being at the V before.

"Yeeeeeees... time to read my e-mail, watch some porn and read some forums while I get some xp and gold thanks to the people here who are actually playing".
I only alt-tab out when I'm dead, not when I'm still in the round. And I don't jerk off while playing (only admins do that). Why do you all make it sound like such a labor, anyway? Is killing bots such a pain for you?

I used to like you, until you started leeching for most rounds I've seen you in DTV.
For what it's worth, even though your love for me has grown cold , I still think you're one of the likable kind. If only you weren't such a n*zi all the time...
As for the leeching: If I try hard, I usually have a score among the top two or three players. If I take it easy, I'm always still somewhere in the upper third or so. Staying at virgin sometimes doesn't make me a leecher.

I agree that a person or two protecting the virgin can be useful, but you can do that in movement, advancing a bit and checking that the virgin is safe. You just stand still for the whole round, so my guess is that you are AFK or tabbed out.

I understand you want to make it seem like I was AFK when you banned me, but we both know I wasn't. Sometimes I join the round a few seconds late after being dead and alt-tabbed out, big deal. Everyone is AFK sometimes and that's not what I as banned for.
