Currently hung between Novatech gaming range: http://www.novatech.co.uk/laptop/range/novatecheliten1550.html

and a new MSI: http://www.ebuyer.com/536678-msi-gt70-gaming-laptop-gt70-2oc-218uk

Both around the same price and can't really decide which would be better.

MSI has a bigger screen... But that gtx 780 seems to be way better, compared to 770:

Personally, i would go with a better card. You can connect an external screen at home anyway, so screen size should not be such a big issue. CPUs are the same, and everything else is irrelevant.

Yeah I'm also not sure if windows 8 actually benefits from RAM over 8 gigs, know this was the case with Windows 7 Home premium and i wouldn't put it past Microsoft to do so again.

Cheers for the graphics comparison, Novatech seems the better option as screen size isn't a particular issue for me.

Windows 8 doesn't suck when it comes to the technical parts. That said any human would dislike metro using m/k, and 8 is very little else than metro.
