New install, no old characters.

I'd guess this is a typical problem but here goes.

My problem is that my old characters don't show up in the character selection on a new installation of MnB:Warband on a new computer.  I was able to find some information on adding my serial key to the registry listing of the new installation on the new computer, so I did that and I'm able to play and create new characters...but i haven't quite figured out how to access the old ones.

From what I have researched I think I need to link something through the website but I wasn't able to figure that part out on my own.  Also, I play through Steam which may add another level of complication. The old characters are also still listed on the CRPG website and I can interact with them just fine.

I'd appreciate any help with this as I've spent a good deal of time on it, and haven't found a clear and concise post with the same issue.  Anyhow, thank you for reading this and hopefully someone can help me out with what I need to do to recover my old characters or refer me to a post or guide that I overlooked.

I'm pretty sure you'll just need to make characters in game with the same names as your old ones that appear on the website. From what I can tell that's likely your problem. The characters in your character selection in game aren't tracked or anything until you're in a server so you can make them again and they'll link to the ones on the website

No worries bud! The site doesn't do a great job of explaining how it works when it comes to characters so I can understand what you were thinking. Good luck to you as well, glad you were able to get it all straightened out.
