How To Upgrade Weapons

I just started playing cRPG and I have been seeing weapons that say Masterwork or heavy before it says what the weapon is. From my understanding from native it means that this weapon gets extra damage. Why I started this topic is to ask how to get these type of weapons since I see no Masterwork weapons on the shop and I see no where to upgrade them. Someone please explain how to get these upgrades.

When you hit level 31, you have the option to retire. When you retire (at level 31) you get a loompoint. Loompoints can be used to upgrade equipment up to three times.
