My friends are trying to make this happen. They'd appreciate any support greatly, and as would I. I think the cRPG community is a good place to chime in on something like this :D

It would help if they actually explained what the game is.

23k € sounds quite a lot for developing a card game. For example the artwork sounds quite expensive (like I knew anything about those kind or prices), but I don't really like those 3d models. The idea sounds nice, but I agree with ptx, the acutal game could be explained a bit more

Good luck for them!

It looks like a cool idea.

Definitely won't be putting up money upfront while it's in development though.
They should go to a bank or micro-loan site and get a loan or an investor.

When dev's do this and ask for money for an unfinished product. It tells me that they have no faith they will be able to make a positive return on their product once it releases, So they feel the need to first sell it to the customer to meet their budget so they can continue development risk-free. So even if they make a completely horrible product, they already paid for expenditures up front with customers dollars. So it's not a complete financial loss.

Sorry, I really don't mean to be rude, this is just my opinion on paying for something in development.
It really does look like a pretty cool concept and I would consider buying the finished product after I was able to see the finished product in action.

I would suggest making it into an online card game in browser or HTML.
They would save themselves an arm and a leg on publishing/printing fees, then be able to reduce the price of the product without taking a financial hit, and reaching a much much wider audience at the same time while giving players a much easier time to find someone to play with (some of us don't have friends ). Of course you would be needing a pretty decent programmer to go the online route instead of publishing/printing fees so it might be of similar cost in the end, in that respect. just my 2 cents.

Thanks for sharing!
