Best archer gear weight wise...

What would be the "best" archer gear when it comes to protection vs. mobility. I would like suggestions on "builds".

You want to avoid total weight above 10 for mobility reasons but still max out your armour value. Head armour weighs x2 and hand armour x4 but you want at least some protection on your head and gloves give a nice boost if heirloomed. The lightest armours only add 4 if heirloomed but the lightest mediums armour weighs around 8.6 and is that really worth it considering mobility?

If you can mix a nice look that is great but that is not the main objective of my question.

Should you max out on legs or body armour, or both?

Cost is not really an issue since most armours light enough for an archer is so cheap.

Please give your suggestion!

Not that I've done any calculations but..

I think the following give good protection for their weight:

- Leather Scale (but everyone wears that shit)
- Brynie
- Mail/fur combo (next to Brynie in shop)

I wear leggings with kneehocks (whatevs) for leg.

I would just look at the best of archers. They have pretty good knowledge about these things.
I think this is what XyNox uses along with 1 stack of arrows and a sword as sidearm:

Total weight: 12,1

6,6 (3,3)

:D

That is exactly what I use. I use it just for the lulz though because I think it looks funny :D

Seriously though ... with a total armor weight of 10 your simply wont find anything that consistently keeps you from getting 1 - 2 shotted. Armor for archers is just pointless in 90 % of all situations. The amount of armor needed that would actually increase your survivability by a noticable amount comes with waaaaaaay to much wpf reduction. This is just my opinion though because I like long range shooting. Better having a bit more accuracy on 20 shots than surviving 2 hits instead of 1.

Edit:

Wait a second, I remember, this helmet actually does protect you:

15/24 build, no IF. Arrow fired from a nomad bow at medium distance. Jarid from close distance.

18/21 build with 6 ps, 6 pd, 4 ath, and 7 wm.

I like to use the heavy aketon, iron hat with padded coif, mail mittens, and green hose with kneecops. But you can go as high as wearing scale gauntlets heraldic mail, and a piece of head armor below 2 weight.

I`m using all the time heavy aketon, mail gauntlets, arena helmet (green one) and green and purple hoses. IMO you should concetrate on body armor ajd don,t csre about leg armor. Most body armors have leg armor also and I think that there `s no ranged that is aiming legs.

Having some head armor will help you to survive shots from joke and single hits from melee.

I have 18/27 with no if .  As an archer i can tell you that you will hardly ever survive 2 body shots from good bows.
Archer forever :D

Straw Hat, Turkish Robes, Turkish Shoes, Leather Gloves

I'd rather look sexy then look like a min-maxing nerd.

Seriously though ... with a total armor weight of 10

It was changed to 11 kg some time ago I believe.

your simply wont find anything that consistently keeps you from getting 1 - 2 shotted.

Nasal Helmet
weight: 0.9 (1.8)
head armor: 26
difficulty: 7

Mail Shirt with Fur
weight: 8.5
body armor: 36
leg armor: 3
difficulty: 9

Leather Gloves
weight: 0.1 (0.4)
body armor: 1

Rus Shoes
weight: 0.3
leg armor: 12

Total effective weight: 11 kg. I'd say this set provides decent protection.
