Can't select a main char

I need Help

My friend had give me this acc,because he want stop playing cRPG,but he cant stop playing,because he got a fief in strategus and he want to give it to his old clan,but than i asked him how can i select a main char,if you have already one?
he answered: you delete my main char and then can you make it to your main char and change the keyword. Yesterday i delete his main char, because he said to me yes i to everything in strategus u can delete my main char and select a new PW.
what should i do?
