It's funny to have a song that basically says "fuck you" to the entire contest win.

So true.

Was there anything similar to this in the contests at all?

They always make the same boring, annoying homo-pop.

The usual europop eurovision genre sucks so much, the best winner (or at least the one that sucked less) is probably this

(click to show/hide)

Lol it had to be Finland :D. I didn't mind Lordi doing that since I always knew about the attentionwhory ways of them. Sorry for doing this comparison but the singer is like Gene Simmons of Kiss. He is a business man. I think we sent another metal/hard rock band after that but it backfired. Mostly because Lordi already did that hard rock thing (I assume it's not going to work twice) and the guys were singing Manowar styled hero metal in Finnish. People don't appreciate our beautiful and complex language :(. The intro tells a lot about the commentator's knowledge of music genres... "Gothic rock"... Pfffft this is why we can't have good things.

Good that both of these heavier bands Finland sent weren't taken seriously anyways. I always thought that Lordi was a metal band for kids and Teräsbetoni was a parody about Manowar and they weren't too serious about their stuff anyhow. "Doing it for lulz" :D.

To be fair, Lordi had a much better show than Teräsbetoni. In this contest, optical opulence can be as important, maybe even more so, than good music.

That Lordi video had me laughing so hard. The visuals were cool, they had that down, but it reminded me of some local battle of the band with some funny, but still corny lyrics from a purely musical standpoint.

I guess the topless ladies and all that usual Manowar stuff is not allowed in Eurovision stage :D
