Whats the point in weight at rannger?

So why to keep your weight low as an archer? I read that every point of weight decrease your WPF by 1% Ok, fine, but most of it takes arrows weight which is like 20 for 2 slots and 4 points of armor are nothing at comparsion to overall weight. I have an archer 18/21. 6 athletics points, low weight armor and almost every well/hard armored 2h or shielder manage to chase me up and stab me at my back. And their weight is uch bigger. So maybe as arrows weight so much adding more armor int stupid idea?

There's a couple of things involved here. The higher you armor weight the more penalty you will have on your WPF. So you'll be less accurate with heavier armor. I think they say the magic number is around 7 weight and past that you'll see wpf penalty.

The reason behind having arrows weigh so much is because the devs/community/whoever got tired of archers kiting and running. So effectively this was the nerf to prevent archers from running around kiting.

You can check the game mechanic mega thread for more specifics...

To clarify, wpf is only affected by armour weight, not by anything that goes in your weapon slots. I strongly support the heavy arrows as the gay kiting has in fact been reduced, yay devs!

So 1 point of armor weight since 8 weight takes 1% of your total WPF? Weapon weight affect only running speed, not wpf?

Well, Iam asking because i cant play archer, I have like 1-20 stats when i play it. Now i cant run no matter what, because everyone can chase me down, bows are ultra unaccurate and quite slow, do low dmg(i have to hit 3 times well armored player) and you are mostly one shooted. For comparsion to crossbowman where you have strong armor, good sec weapon skill, great accuary and can 1 shoot archers.

if your total effective armor weight is >10 you begin to see decreases in wpf.

To calculate effective armor weight the formula is:

(4*glove weight)+(2*helmet weight)+Body armor+Leg armor.

Equation to find your actual proficiency is:

Armor weight modified proficiency = base proficiency * (1 - 0.01 * effective armor weight-10)

Sample calculation:

I wear Black Lamellar (9.1 weight), LSG (0.3 weight), Khergit Leather boots (0.5 weight) and no head armor (0 weight) and have a base xbow proficiency of 171.

so my effective armor weight is...

9.1+0.3*4+0.5+0*2=9.1+1.2+0.5=10.8.

I am 0.8 over the baseline where I start losing wpf so my modified wpf is 171*(1-0.01*0.8)=169.6 effective wpf.

other points:

-Low weight allows archers to run faster
-The upkeep for bodkin arrows (most common archer ammunition) is already high. To balance their expenses archers typically take light armor.
-If you're being chased, drop the bow and arrows and enter into melee (or kite more, the choice is yours).
-Weapon weight only affects running speed, not weapon proficiency

Worst admin ever, horrible person, rude in chat, griefs in game, threatens with kicks and bans if you don't praise him in his admin thread, doesn't worship the goat, and worst of all, uses a crossbow, I suggest instant removal of admin rights and crucifixion.

Is the base number 10? The mega game mechanic thread says 7 so that's what I go by...

I found in HERE that is ten, but at the past also heard its around 7.

"This means that every point of armor weight with helmet weight multiplied by 2 and glove weight multiplied by 4  over 10 reduces your wpf by 1%. Or the same put other way, any effective armor weight from the above equation reduces your wpf 1% per 1 point. "

Effective armor weight = 2*head armor weight + body armor weight + leg armor weight + 4*hand armor weight - 10

Effective WPF: (wpf - 13*pt - 14*pd) * (1 - effective weight / 100)

I personally like to battle against cavalry so I tend to keep my armor very light,  that helps me dodge horses more easily . At the moment my overall armor weight is 2.7 and I use only one stack of arrows. It depends lot what kind of archer you are playing. Heavy armored archer using longbow maybe stationed in tower trying to snipe enemies from long distances or agile light archer supporting main group or trying to keep enemy cavalry at bay.

As i read the mechanics higher range dmg lower accuary, so high dmg bows have less accuary than fast speeders wth lower dmg.

It is true if we talk about the reticule (or what word was that?) size, but in practice it's easier to land far shots with long bow because it has more missile speed, so arrows fall down slower and can fly further.
