Half-Swording

I've been trying out a MW German Greatsword:

Swing: 29 cut
Thrust: 37 Pierce
Speed: 87
Reach: 123

No overhead attack
Polearm left swing
2 hand right swing
Polestab

Do you like the way half-swording is currently implemented? Would you change anything? Does it have a particular role that isn't filled by anything else?

The role of halfswording currently is:
when a guy with pole wpp is looking for a weapon on the battlefield he can grab 2h sword and fight with it until he finds a polearm weapon.

I weñt half swording on a skip the fun character.  Can be effective,  but pole/2h weapons will always be better

Well, I did make an STF for halfswording. Could do with a pole overhead, just to get that 4th direction, but apart from that, it was both fun and quite effective (dat pierce thrust :P)
I voted Gurnisson cause of his fucking bendy pike, I swear noone can roflcopter stab like he can.

Half-swording is ONLY good with the German and Greatsword, but only situationally.

In those cases, you get an ultra-powerful stab to back-stab or surprise enemies with.

With all the other swords, the cut damage is too weak and the thrust not strong enough to be worth it.

I do not agree with the current situation in half-swording.

Right now half-swording gives -1 speed, less reach, very shitty cut on most swords, but good thrust...basically never worth it.

To fix half-swording, make it so speed is not decreased by -1.
Also, give +2 cut damage compared to what it is currently.

That way, using the weapon as a 2h gives better reach and still much better cut damage.
Half-swording decreases reach, gives better thrust, and less cut.

The changes suggested here would not make it OP, but would make it somewhat more viable than it is now.

Do it!

Remove the speed penalty. Use 2h WPF. Suddenly, it becomes (marginally) useful. Now it's just a useless gimmick.

2h wpf, give it an overhead, reduce 2h normal mode thrust by 8damage across the board and train wreck its beyond reasonable hitbox at hilt.

Half swording should become the CQB for 2h.

Agree, overhead would be nice, unless other things were done to justify losing overhead

You lose more than -1 speed. For GGS it goes down to 87 from 91. Heavy BS goes to 95 from 100. So if you have pole wpf its not really much different to using it in 2 hand mode with 1 wpf, and you get the better animations and swing damage. The stab is so short with halfswording that its a bit of a tradeoff, damage for length, buts its not really worth it imo when you look at the other negatives (speed loss, swing damage reduction and losing overhead). GGS is like a tiny awlpike with comparitavely weak swings (for 2 hand/pole)

Its fun to try though, just the polestab is so short with that length of weapon

When you look at shorter weapons than GGS it becomes less and less useful. The cheap spears get similar stab and swing damage + more length
