login"Today, we die. We die so others may live. Show them what Barabes are made of!"All Rice Eaters forces were stopped. They killed off everyone blocking their path, but when the mist of war died off, the heavily ladden caravan was far from sight.
Spies around Emer informed them that Abortimir had entered the village safely. They were preparing to hold it against a siege and began constructing barricades. Things were going badly...
A message from Shu Han came into Jamiche castle, and infused everyone with newfound hope.
"We accept the gifts you sent and are willing to participate in the war effort against the Barabe. Let our alliance hold true from now to the end of time!"
The same day, two great armies were seen leaving Jelkala and moving around the mountains, to close on Emer from the west.
To assure victory, an equivalent force left Jamiche castle to close in from the east.
Bolstered by these news, the land forces closest to Emer came down from the mountains and quickly surrounded the village, with a mere thousand troops.
They had took the bait, unknowingly sending themselves into death.
Inside the village, close to two thousands soldiers were waiting for such an opportunity.
They sallied out from every corner of their home town, so great a horde that all wondered how they had crammed so much troops into this place.
They were outfitted with the strongest armors and weapons they had previously looted from the first battle of this war.
Abortimir himself led the counter-charge, and the Barabes added another slaughter to their list of victories.

Every soldiers not able to fend for themselves were sent back to the castle.
Some miles away from Emer, only one great host of nearly two thousand troops remained, and were closing in on the village, bent on capturing it and everything that was inside.
The Barabes were not mad enough to try to attack the combined forces of the Rice Eaters on the open field, outside of the village defense.
The siege party approached at a safe pace, untouched.
Not far from here, a strange line of men is noticed into the horizon...

login"Come on lads! Move this caravan along, we are almost there!"The cunning Barabes had sent a caravan loaded with every valuables they could take, out from the village, far from the main army! There would be few things to loot if Emer was to be captured!
They were approaching Grunwalder, a castle just north of Emer, certainly to ask for sanctuary, when the wheel of fortune suddenly turned.
A heavily armed Shu Han caravan was passing through the area and were ready to engage them.
Numbering to seven hundred soldiers, they were clearly outmatching the hundred poorly equiped soldiers overladden with trinkets!
The attack was swiftly ordered, and the clash happened just in front of the castle gates.
The battle had just began, when a thousand soldiers bearing the banner of the Apostates, lord of the castle, poured forth and lent their forces to the Barabe!

Things were looking bleak at first.
Using his skirmishing forces with great effect, the Shu Han general, Corsair, was dealing heavy casualties to the Apostates-Barabe force, much to their dismay.
The battle went on, and on... Corpses piled ever higher... It continued thus until the end of day.
Then, only a handful of men were still standing on both side of the battlefield.
Instructions were passed on, and it was decided that every wounded would be assembled behind the lines, and all able-bodied men were to form a tight wedge formation and ram straight into the remaining enemies!

login"This is the final charge. Doubtless our foes will fight like cornered lions, but harden your hearts and give them no mercy!"They then ran as compactly as they could, while they screamed "No mercy! No mercy!"
The impact was so great, that the enemies in the first line of the shieldwall were knocked out cold.
The remaining mens at arms fought for their ground, but were gradually pushed back, until there was no back to be pushed to, and were hacked to pieces.
When the melee was over, only five Shu Han soldiers were still holding their swords in a fighting stance.
Their victory was great, so was their cheering. They would be able to come back to their homes, alive and triumphant.
Meanwhile, the siege of Emer had already began...

login"To the walls! Burn this place down!"News of the raid success ran in the lines of the attacking force. It greatly lifted the spirit of the soldiers, but worried the lords. A new enemy appears? Will we be able to continue on our track?
Notwithstanding this fact, the soldiers eagerly climbed up the steep hills surrounding the village, and attacked the barricades.
But ranged and cavalry were taking a heavy toll on the incoming waves, and those able to reach said barricades were too few to be efficient.
Casualties were building up, and as the day passed, it was clear that the village will not be burned down today.
A full retreat was sounded, reinforcements were called from the Shu Han armies, to fill the gaps of the sieging party, and to attack the next day.
Before most of the soldiers had retreated, an envoy appeared outside of Emer...

login"I bear a message for the besieging army!"The envoy was searched for hidden weapons and sent to a great tent where the warlords and their leaders were assembled.
His next words were awaited with great apprehension, and all were mute when he spoke.
"I represent both the Apostates and the Barabes. We dont want this war to go on. Let us find a peaceful solution, or more soldiers will be sent to protect our allies trapped inside Emer!"
The Apostates had a strong military presence in the area. Emer siege could become really complicated if they got involved even more than they were already.
But the Shu Han leader had still many reserves to send in case of an extended war.
"We do not fear your military. If you so wish to call a truce, have all troops leave the village immediately, and surrender Emer to us!"
The herald had an answer ready for this. "We agree to these terms, under two conditions: all the people inside will leave with their arms and flags, and will carry out from the fief every thing they want!"
"Also, there will be no agression in the future between our two nations!"
An honourable deal. It was officially decreeted in the following morning.
A great line of soldiers and civilians moved off from the city gate, under the watchful eye of the besieging army, not far away.
The keys to Emer were given from the Barabes directly to the Shu Han, and as soon as the former resident were all out of the village, the Shu Han armies took control of the fief and began repairing the place.
The deal was respected, and all Barabes left this land and went to the far north-east, out of view and of influence, into Apostates territory.
