Back when I was an MMO nerd playing Ultima Online, there used to be a "power hour" - a certain hour of the day when skills rose faster. What if we had something like that here? An XP bonus during some sort of prime-time? I guess this community might be too international for that to make sense, but it would be cool.
...did double xp day apply to strat battles? If so, I bet there were more fights that usual that day.
