Cav Bonus

I really think a great way to support cav working together would be to add a bonus to cav that ride together like shielders.

1) A bonus to their charge would be nice, maybe too op if there isnt a limit on the bonus.

2) A bonus to their hp, probably need a cap on that too.

3) A bonus to their armor, obviously a cap on that.

4) A resistance to rear, where if enough are together, only poles with the 140+ reach can rear them.

Any of these would promote cav actually working with eachother instead of all "ramboing" around picking off strays.
Could also create a fun hammer and anvil tactic for strat :D

No need to buff cav currently.
Okay, if 10 cab play together give them 10 more armor so bodkins can do their work.

A lot of cav together already gives a lot of bonuses. No need for a buff there, unless they got nerfs to their stats to balance it out.
I voted Gurnisson cause of his fucking bendy pike, I swear noone can roflcopter stab like he can.

Ah, didn't read that part.
Concerning start it is another thing I guess.
Horses for start currently cost a lot so nearly nobody uses them, but once they got enough gold to use them, they got quite a high advantage anyway. :)

Currently cav, especially 1h cav, if the player knows how to play, is strong enough.

IMO cav stats in strat should be worse than in cRPG (and cheaper)  but with formation features like this added so they have a a nice niche for clans or merc pools organized enough to use it. Then again I come from the "teamwork is king" school of thought, which has never been popular in this community (specifically referring to the NA Cavalry try hards).

Couple things to say about this:

Cav doesn't need any buffs for working together.  It already benefits them to work somewhat together with other cav (2 cav charging 1 archer [or even 1 pikeman] at slightly different timings mean that you're most likely going to kill that archer).

Also the bonus wouldn't be that helpful, because cavalry should never be charging in a straight line.  You're setting yourself up for failure if you do that.  You need to change speed and/or direction when going in for a kill as cavalry (even against 1h on foot).  Even more true if you're charging at someone who can rear your horse.  If you have two cavalry riding side by side, you can't maneuver without hitting their horse (so you either are unable to maneuver, or you end up cutting off the other guy and causing him to come to a complete stop).

In theory cav charges should be something that is extremely powerful in game, but in practice they work a lot worse than having 5 cavalry playing follow the leader (you knock down people for the guy behind you).

I agree.

Cavalrymen can easiliy teamplay in pairs (groups of 2). That increases the effectiveness a lot.
Not only can the one riding behind deal with bumped or wounded enemies, but if the first cavalry player's horse is stopped, the one behind can save him from an enemy trying to take advantage of that.

So a team with lots of cavalry, should ride in pairs, a bit spread out, in order to create chaos and confusion among the enemies.
A big group of horsemen charging together is just really ineffective since the enemy will be totally aware and prepared for it.

I like the idea of slightly buffing the charge if cavalry ride together. It shows some intelligence unlike the common "nerf this" "that too op" "fuck it" "stupid map" "noob team" "lag"
