Aye it's pretty annoying. Maybe your sound card has just lived it's life. It is the same machine you've been using for a longer time? I'd do a hardware check next and try to clean some parts if nothing else is wrong. Or delete system32

Since you're using a mic on a headset the recording chain is looping back onto itself (the mic input records the sound output of the headphones).

I'm really unsure about how to fix your problem though. Maybe try the solutions discussed here: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/260147-28-microphone-play-back-output-audio

As a last resort and nothing else works, I'd install a new sound driver (I use Asio4All for Cubase). With a seperate driver installed you'll have more options to customize your inputs and outputs. You can always switch between drivers in the software preferences you're recording with.
