fps drop

Hello,

I have like 3 years old PC with :

Windows 7 x64

Intel Core 2 duo 3,2 ghz

NVIDIA GeForce 9800GTX+

A lot of empty space on my pc etc.

After playing for like 2 years without any fps problems, I started having some.

On some maps I have constant 120 fps and on other maps I have very low fps rate and then I can't do shit. Everything looks like a slideshow and it is impossible to fight. There are also maps that in some parts of them I have 120 fps and in other parts of this  map I have max fps.

The thing is strange ebcause I never had fps problem before.

I have rather low graphic quality with textures etc. set to 75%, no grass etc.

Does anybody know what I could do to get my normal fps back so actually the game is playable?

I also know other guy who has the same problem that started recently and I guess I don't have any virus on my pc etc.

Whats your GFX/CPU temp? Something might be overheating. The PSU might be dying as well.

I am some kind of PC nab so I don't know how to check the temperature but the thing is that everything was always fine and now I'm facing this fps problem just on some maps and it doesn't matter if there are 100 people or 5 people.

EDIT: ok I have downloaded some kind of measuring programme so I will bring some temperature data soon

temperature comparison

map and fps drop (trust me, it's not 68 fps. Movement isn't fluent at all and it's hard to see shit).
(click to show/hide)

part of the map ( staircase ) where I don't have any fps problems. Most of the maps it's like this 119,xx fps

Hm temp looks fine, so that shouldn't be the prob... not sure what is wrong. Did you update your video drivers recently?

I didn't. Should I? I will look for new drivers but my current ain't old.

Edit: I'm downloading new drivers now

Edit2: I have installed new drivers. Will write here later if problem is solved but I'm afraid it won't be. Anyway I'm still open to all suggestions that could help me with the fluency of the game

no, if you did an update recently it could have been an explanation for fps drops. But now that you have the problems it doesn't hurt to try new drivers.

Well, as a topic name states new geforce drivers do lower perfomance in warband on some GPUs.
Personally I have a rather old PC so that it can run warband on 120 fps with no problem, but in Warband with better graphics and higher vegetation I have to run it on 70 fps cap with all but fancy water reflections and grass enabled:

I have intel dual core 3Ghz processor, 4 Gbs of ram and NVIDIA Geforce 250 GTS running 64 bit windows 7.

After not playing for a while I noticed strange lags during battles that I never had before and while ping was usual (yes I know current server host has issues with ping, but Im describing different issue) I started to suspect performance, thing is you couldn't notice it clearly on some maps. So I did a little bit of testing on most lagging map on my PC - Faernebo (swamp with a house in the middle) and was amased on how low my framerate lowered there it jumped from 70 to 50 all the time (with 70 fps cap). Further testing revealed the problem:

Test map Faernebo:

NVIDIA GeForce 250GTS drivers for 64 bit windows 301.42(Latest stable ones I had) - 117-120 fps (with 120 fps cap)
NVIDIA GeForce 250GTS drivers for 64 bit windows 306.23 - 56-75(!) fps (with 120 fps cap)
NVIDIA GeForce 250GTS drivers for 64 bit windows 306.97 - 56-75(!) fps (with 120 fps cap)

Twice worse performance! TWICE!

So there you go - if you wonder why it started to lag tremendously it very well be new nvidia drivers, especially because warband tends to lag very hard if fps drop below the fps cap you have set. Thing is I don't have any problems in other games or applications with those old 301.42  drivers so its a solution for me for now.
Mods compatible with cRPG. New crosshairs, textures, sounds, yay.
