Half upkeep on two slot items

Apparently it is possible for my two slot lances, swords, polearms and bows to break twice, if they are two slots...

As such, can we half the upkeep on them to compensate?

I'm not normal and I don't pretend so, my approach is pretty much a bomb crescendo.
