Spear Suggestion

sooo we all know that the normal spear is pretty underused. real hoplites take something better ie warspear, ashwood pike etc

I propose with give the spear 1 slot!

They are the same length and i think making the spear 1 slot but raise the price a few k would make it a viable side arm.

OFC you could use the fork but its not as sexy as a spear and well spear is the most widespread weapon of the time

The spear is the most versatile (=fast) polearm for duels and general non-supporting roles in the low-price segment. I used it while leveling my last polearm character. Removing it will force low-level characters to play support or use niche weapons (like staffs) and rob them of the four-directional-spear playstyle.

lange please re-read... i suggested changing its slots to 1 and raising the price a little. its hardly stopping you from using it at low levels

I assumed that higher cost usually goes in line with higher difficulty, which would make it unviable. Otherwise, yeah... cost doesn't matter to most players anyway.

The only reason i could think of as to why the spear isnt already a 1 slot weapon is because of the 4-directional attacks. With roughly the same stats as the military fork, plus 4 directions it beats the fork out in combat without a shield. The only reason to pick the fork is the fact it only takes 1 slot.

Dont get me wrong i think itd be nice to have a 1slot spear with a little more range than the shortened spear, but making it 1 slot would make the military fork useless. A way it could work, however, would be to buff the damage on the fork to compensate for the overhand/stab limitation (especially with the nerf to them), then give the spear 1 slot. If that was done, both of the weapons would have thier own niche.

It really should be one-slot. Between it no longer being long enough to rear horses and the loss of polestagger, this would be an easy and quick way to balance it out with Military Fork/Shortened Spear.
